Jazz Missa Brevis (Iain James Veitch) digital download (including backing tracks)
This edition is for choirs that wish to print their own hard copies or to view on display devices. The product is a licence in which the composer personally authorises the choir to print, or use on a display device, a specified number of copies. The licence is for the sole use of the specified choir and is not transferable in any circumstances. This means that the licence, and any hard copies consequently produced, cannot, for example, be sold, loaned, gifted, or hired to any other party.
On receipt of an order we will prepare a unique, personalised, PDF of the score that also includes the name of the licensee and the number of copies allowed. This file will then be emailed asap.
The purchase also includes free access to the mp3 backing tracks. (This is the same recording as featured in the video below) A separate link will be sent out automatically on completion of the order.
The minimum license is £45 for up to 30 copies. Options to purchase 40 or 50 copies are also available which means that, by combining these options, any number of copies can be purchased in multiples of 10.

Jazz Missa Brevis is scored for SATB and jazz piano trio (Piano, Bass, Drums). Although the choral parts are presented as SATB, the Tenor and Bass can easily be seen as a pair of baritone parts (often in unison). The piano part is complete in itself allowing the work to be performed with just a piano accompaniment. The bass part could also be played on the electric bass.
This is the full conductor's score which includes the fully notated bass and drum parts.
Additionally, a full score (jazz piano trio, and SATB) is available in a print edition, as well as a set of parts for piano, bass, and drums.
For a performance just with piano the vocal score is all that might be needed. For a performance with a trio, the conductor may prefer to work from the full score.
Although the pianist could work from the vocal or full score the parts set includes a part for piano which minimises page turns and adds chord symbols to facilitate additional jazz improvisation.
Jazz Missa Brevis was first performed by Penarth Cavatina Singers and Stanwell School Choir in November 2018.
In 2021 Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society produced a 'lockdown' video performance which is available to view on YouTube.
